Teleprotection

RFL is the world leader in teleprotection equipment for power utilities. The product ranges include audio tone (FSK), digital, fiber optic, Ethernet (IEC 61850) and single function powerline carrier (On/Off & Blocking) systems. If you need to get a protection signal or command from one point to another, RFL can provide you the most secure and dependable solution.

Solutions:

GARD 8000 Teleprotection Channel (Analog, Digital, Ethernet, Power Line Carrier)
The GARD 8000 Teleprotection channel is a revolutionary product platform that provides the user with a fully programmable system that can be used for Direct Transfer Trip, Permissive Transfer Trip, Blocking and Unblocking applications. The product is unique in that the same platform is used for analog, digital, and IEC 61850 LAN tripping applications. The base system is the digital platform that can be used to transmit and receive up to 32 functions in groups of 8. Each block of 8 commands is transmitted over a 56/64 kb/s channel, these data channels can be any of the supported digital interfaces. In essence the user is provided a teleprotection channel that has four conventional 8-function teleprotection systems built-in for the price of one.

The GARD 8000 can also be supplied as a single function PLC channel that can be programmed as a Frequency-Shift (FSK) power line carrier system, or, as an amplitude-modulated On/Off powerline carrier transmitter/receiver terminal. The unit is designed for pilot protection relaying applications requiring high-speed reliable communications. The GARD 8000 PLC can be programmed for On/Off type directional comparison blocking (DCB), Frequency Shift direct transfer trip, (DTT) Unblocking (DCU), or either single, or dual phase comparison applications. The GARD 8000 can be supplied with up to (4) PLC transceiver modules to provide the equivalent of four conventional single function powerline carrier systems in one compact easy to use package.

RFL 9745 Teleprotection Channel (Analog, Digital)
The RFL 9745 is a fully programmable Teleprotection Channel suitable for the Direct Transfer Trip, Permissive Transfer Trip, Blocking and Unblocking applications. Over 12,000 units are currently installed around the world. Flash memory and remote RS-232 communications allows new firmware to be loaded making field programming possible without having to open the chassis. The communications interface can be converted in the field to adapt to different types of media. An unprecedented level of diagnostic information is available and eaily accessible with the RFL 9745. RFL's sequence-of-events diagnostics package provides a convenient method for evaluating communications systems performance during the fault clearing process.

RFL 9785 Programmable ON/OFF Powerline Carrier System
The RFL 9785 is an amplitude modulated ON/OFF powerline carrier tranmitter/receiver terminal. It is based on three generations of proven RFL technology with enhanced features to meet today's market demands. It is designed for directional comparison blocking applications in high-speed protective relaying communications. One standard package is all you will need for most schemes. Meets the requirements of ANSI/IEEE C93.5.

RFL 9780 Programmable FSK Powerline Carrier System
The RFL 9780 is a Programmable Frequency-Shift Keyed (FSK) power line carrier system which can be supplied as a transceiver (Tx/Rx), transmit only (Tx), receive only (Rx), dual transmitter (Tx/Tx), or dual receiver (Rx/Rx). Typical applications for the RFL 9780 include Direct Transfer Trip (DTT-single or dual channel), Permissive Transfer Trip (PTT), Directional Comparison Unblocking (DCU), and dual phase comparison. For protective relaying applications, the unique I/O capabilities of the RFL 9780 allow its use with all protective relay designs.
