Digital to Fiber Service Units

RFL offers two types Digital to Fiber Converters. One is designed to the ANSI C37.94 Standard for interfacing protection products to digital multiplexer and the other is a T1/E1 fiber service unit (FSU) that offers economical fiber extension for the IMUX 2000/4000 family of T1/E1 and SONET/SDH multiplexers along with ability to add fiber connectivity to other manufacturer's multiplexers.

T1/E1 Fiber Service Unit (FSU)

The RFL T1/E1 Fiber Service Unit (FSU) is a DC powered, environmentally hardened T1/E1 Fiber Service Unit that can be electrically interfaced to a SONET or SDH multiplexer to extend via fiber the communication signal to an IMUX 2000 T1 or E1 multiplexer. Additionally, by using two of the FSUs end to end, this product can provide an interface between any T1 or E1 multiplexer with compliant electrical T1 or E1 interface.

ANSI C37.94 Fiber Service Unit (FSU)

The RFL C37.94 Short Haul Fiber Interface is designed to interface to ANSI DS0 compliant teleprotection devices such as protective relays, protection signaling, status and control, and other devices found in the high voltage substation environment to a multiplexer that does not meet the standard. The unit converts the optical signal into and electrical signal that will be accepted by the multiplexer.
