RFL 9831 Dual Path Programmable Modem

The RFL 9831 Modem is a fully integrated multifunction modem with unique options for data communication over VF circuits and copper cablepairs for data rates from 300 to 9600 Baud. Conventional modems are point to point devices, with long multi-hop systems eventually requiring regeneration and or complex hardware configura-tions, if redundant communications are required.

The RFL 9831 modem is unique in that it is readily configurable for multi-drop, regenerated data transmission and it supports redundant communications paths making it the ideal choice for critical data communication applications. The RFL 9831 can operate over 30 ~ 40 km of unloaded or loaded copper cable pairs or a 2 or 4 wire CCITT standard VF channel, with a frequency range from 300 to 3,400 Hz. The RFL 9831 architecture consists of three modules, (1) 98 Series modem module (P/N105720), (2) optional plug-on redundant modem (P/N105720-1), (3) (P/N 105265-1) I/O module.

The modem module functions as a programmable modem with state of the art features and is capable of emulating a range of standard data modem types.

The module also provides LED status indications of data signal state.

The I/O module provides connectivity to the DC power supply, 2 x RS-232 DTEs and 2 x VF communication channels.

The RFL 9831 can be mounted in our standard 3 RU (5.75”) or 1 RI (1.75”) 19” wide rack mount chassis and can be used with our standard 10W, 25W, or 50W 98 Series power supplies.

The RFL 9831 modem’s functionality and operating parameters are easily configured using an MS windows based programming utility via a PC connected to the RS-232 serial data port (labeled CFG) on the front panel. All programmable parameters, once entered, are stored in non-volatile memory.

RFL 9820 DLPF Dual Low-Pass Filter

  • Contains two low-pass filters which permit bi-directional speech transmission on the lower portion of the normal telephone voice frequency spectrum (speech and data applications)
  • Has a sharp cutoff filter, 60 dB rejection at 1.05 times the normal cutoff frequency
  • Modules for connection to PABX for E&M Signaling or telephone extension
  • Also available, subscriber module with an internal ringer and an "off hook" detection function and a long line extension

RFL 6850P Programmable FSK Tone Modules

  • Fully-programmable FSK Tone transmitter or receiver, 50 baud to 600 baud
  • Uses Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology
  • Programmable within 1Hz over a 300 Hz to 3200 Hz band
  • RS-232 solid-state or relay output
  • Compatible with existing RFL 6850 modules

RFL 9850 Programmable FSK Tone Modules

  • Fully-programmable FSK Tone Transceiver, 50 baud to 600 baud
  • Transmitter and receiver independently programmable
  • Uses Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology
  • Programmable within 1Hz over a 300 Hz to 3200 Hz band
  • Can be programmed to operate as an FSK receiver/amplifier
  • RS-232 solid state or relay output
  • RFL 9850 RP remotely programmable version

RFL 98 TMX Programmable Telemetry Transmitter

RFL 98 TMR Programmable Telemetry Receiver

  • Designed for high accuracy transmission of analog information as SCADA backup
  • Occupies a narrow voice frequency band (50 Hz to 85 Hz)
  • Transmission accuracy is better than .1% over a temperature range of -30 °C to +70°F
  • Response time is less than 1 second. Input/output levels up to 10 Vrms or 50 mA
